In your Community you can set a main sport or activity type (e.g. tennis, yoga etc.) and you can add additional types. All the types you select will be assigned to your Community and help people to find you.
For example, if you selected football as your main type and then added running and cycling as additional types, anyone searching for either football, running or cycling would see your Community.
You can always specify any activity type on individual Activities you run. For example you could set your Community’s main activity type to be Group Exercise, then you could create an activity for yoga, another for Pilates and so on.
If you are planning to organise Competitions in your Community it’s important to note that your Competitions will only be available for your main activity type. For example if you specify tennis as your main sport all the Competitions in your Community will be specific to tennis.
If you also specified croquet as an additional sport, your Community will be listed in Playwaze as a tennis and croquet club but you will only be able to run recreational croquet Activities in the Community. If you would like to run competitions across multiple sports you have 2 options:
- Create multiple Communities with the main type set to each different sport.
- Contact us for support in setting up a Community Network. This allows for multiple communities to be centrally managed through a Network. These are generally used by larger sports enterprises.
Note that for some non-head-to-head sports you will be able to use the same Competition formats in one Community. For example, a simple timed race can be used for both swimming and running.
